Plywood

Plywood consists of layers of wood veneer laminated together with the grain of the wood alternating direction on each layer. Plywood has the greatest variety of types and uses, and Hayward stocks many different types. The two biggest uses are for sheathing and underlayment. Sheathing is literally the skin over framing members, either joists, studs or rafters. Underlayment is used as a secondary layer over a base layer to add a stiff flat surface for finish materials such as flooring or a tile countertop. The first two letters indicate the quality of the outside layers and an X denotes exterior water-resistant glue. We carry:

  • CDX Sheathing
  • Exterior Fir Underlayment
  • AC Fir Plywood (4×8, 4×10, 5×9)
  • Lauan Sanded Plywood
  • Pressure-Treated Plywood
  • AB Marine Fir Plywood
