Single and double hung windows open by sliding up and down in two sashes that are adjacent to each other inside of the window casing. Most people prefer double hung windows, where both the top and bottom window sections move, as opposed to single hung, where the top section is stationary and only the bottom section moves.
Single and double hung windows have evolved from the traditional chain and pulley windows seen in many historic homes. Hayward sells this traditional configuration, along with updated operating designs, including windows that tilt in and/or have sashes that can be removed for easy cleaning. Hayward also offers triple hung windows and a variety of other custom options for special projects, including historical renovations.
